A private room alone is not enough.
I looked at whether you can actually talk comfortably, whether the food holds up, and how easy the location is to use. What works for a date night is not always what works for a business dinner, so I have tried to explain where each restaurant fits best.
Amore Shibuya

Close the door and Shibuya suddenly feels much quieter.
Not every table here is private, but there are several fully enclosed rooms with doors toward the back. Once the door closes, it is surprisingly easy to forget that you are right by Center-gai. That makes it useful for a date, but also for a small business dinner where you actually want to hear the conversation.
I have been here enough times to know some of the staff, and the reason I keep coming back is not just the atmosphere. The food is genuinely good. Meat dishes are the strongest part of the menu for me, especially when you want something with a bit of visual impact as well as flavor.

KICHIRI Shibuya
KICHIRI 渋谷
Stylish private rooms · Near the station · Date night
If the room matters more than the menu, this is a very easy choice.
To be straightforward, the food is not the main reason I come here. What KICHIRI does especially well is the space: warm lighting, polished interiors and private rooms that feel much more date-friendly than the average Shibuya izakaya.
It is also close to the station, which matters more than people admit when you are meeting someone in Shibuya. For a night when atmosphere and convenience matter more than chasing a specific signature dish, it is a useful option.

Kitashibu Shibuya

Private seating until morning is a very Shibuya combination.
The food is solid rather than the main attraction for me, but I genuinely like the interior. The restaurant advertises all-private seating, so even in the middle of Center-gai it is easier to have a proper conversation without feeling like the table next to you is part of it.
The late-night hours also make it useful as a second stop. I did have a service experience on one visit that I was not completely happy with, although that can vary by staff and by day. The space itself remains one of the reasons I would consider it again.

Imozo Shibuya Shinnan-guchi

A calmer option for Kyushu food and a long conversation.
If you are looking on the Shinnan-guchi side of the station, Imozo is worth keeping in mind. The menu centers on Kyushu cooking and shochu, and the overall mood is calmer than the Center-gai side of Shibuya.
I have had visits where the food took a little longer than expected, so for a business dinner I would leave some breathing room in the schedule. For a relaxed date or dinner where no one is rushing to the next appointment, the pace is easier to accept.

Gonpachi Shibuya

A night-view private room that works for both dates and business dinners.
Gonpachi sits on the 14th floor of E-Space Tower in Maruyamacho. There are fully private rooms and seats with night views, which makes it useful when the restaurant itself needs to feel like part of the occasion rather than just somewhere to eat.
On one of my visits, drinks were slow enough that we waited around ten minutes, so at peak times I would build in a little patience. Some private rooms also have minimum-spend requirements, so it is worth confirming the conditions when you book.

Tanjiro Shibuya

Close to the station, good-looking private rooms, and food I actually want to eat.
The access is excellent: this is the kind of place you can reach without dragging your date or business guest across half of Shibuya. The rooms also look good, and the food is strong enough that convenience is not the only reason to choose it.
I am especially fond of the roast beef here. On my visits the staff were pleasant as well, so when I look at location, room, food and service together, this is one of the most balanced choices in the group.
